Just a reminder about the two events coming up in the next couple of weeks. 
 
 
1. Gutenberg Bible Exhibition
To celebrate Rare Books Week, The University of Melbourne Special Collections are exhibiting an original two volume Gutenberg Bible.  This is a rare opportunity to see the Bible that has come all the way from the University of Manchester for this special event. You are invited to a special viewing outside public viewing hours, and the curator has offered to make himself available for a talk. 
 
In conjunction with this exhibition is the Radicals, Slayers and Villains Exhibition, presented by the Baillieu Library.  Information can be found out about it here:
We can have a look at this after the Gutenberg Bible viewing. Morning Tea will be at DR. Dax afterwards for those who can make it. (Tanya will take you there)
 
When: Friday 18th July 9.00am
Where: Meet in the foyer of the Baillieu Library, 8.45am sharp.

2. Patrick Pound

You are invited to an invitation only exhibition opening:

 
re. reading: Pound at the Lenton Parr Library will see Melbourne artist and book collector Patrick Pound working with the Lenton Parr Music, Visual and Performing Arts Library collections. The exhibition presents subtle and poetic interventions in the library's displays as well as substantial collection-related artworks and ephemera, all referencing the activity of reading and the book and music collections of the library as if on a dare."

 Exhibition Tour. Mid-Century Modern: Australian Furniture Design
The Victorian Chapter would like to invite all members to a viewing of the exhibition \"Mid-Century Modern: Australian Furniture Design\", at NGV Australia - Federation Square, Wednesday, August 27th, 3pm. Kirsty Grant, the exhibition curator will walk us through this fabulous exhibition of Australian post-war design. The walkthrough starts in the gallery at 3:30pm sharp. Please meet from 3pm at the café Beer Deluxe for a pre-tour coffee and catch up (in the atrium immediately outside the entrance to NGV Australia). Digital Libraries of the Future

Wednesday 4th November 2015 at 1.30pm - 4pm. Deakin University Burwood Campus, Burwood Corporate Centre.

Join Deakin University Library for an expert presentation on Digital Libraries of the Future. Hear current initiatives and find out what's in store for technology engagement in academic libraries. Guest speakers are:-

Sarah Kenderdine (Professor and Director of IGLAM Laboratory for Innovation in Galleries, Libraries, Archives & Museums) discussing engagement with digital cultural heritage.

Gavin Winter (Visualisation & eResearch Manager at the Institute for Future Environment at QUT) presenting his vision on how libraries, universities and major public institutions can leverage high end visualisation technology in engaging and inspirational ways.

Shawna Sadler (Director, Digital Library and Innovation at Deakin University Library) presenting the Future for Digital Scholarship.

We would like to invite all Victorian members to attend a small informal meeting to discuss ideas for our chapter and activities for the coming year.

All input will be warmly welcomed.  

This will be followed by a small end of year celebration –afternoon tea  in the Tea Room at the NGV http://www.ngv.vic.gov.au/visit/dining/

We welcome anyone who is not a current financial member, but they will be expected to pay for their own afternoon tea.

Dear Victorian Members,

As previously announced, all of the committee members for the Victorian chapter intend to vacate their positions this month (January 2017).

We are currently seeking expressions of interest to fill the roles of Chair, Treasurer and Secretary for the Victorian chapter.

This is a great opportunity to help revitalise our chapter and to demonstrate leadership in the arts librarian profession.
